When the Google algorithm understands your search query to be possibly answered by a local business, it includes three in a group with a map in the search results, following the paid advertisements and before the organic search results.

An example of such a query might be, "carwash near me".

The map accompanying the business search results includes the location of these three businesses.

It's important to your SEO campaign that you make sure Google understands the location of your business, if you offer local service (and perhaps even if you don't.)
